Seize the Day!

Adults — Jerri Lynn Baker lives each day to its fullest— or pretty close. Five years after her 2004 cancer diagnosis, Baker stopped focusing on death and started seeking joy. Hear about and be inspired by her "Freakin 365+1" adventure in which she did something new every day for a year; and learn from her to take joy in the little things. No registration needed.


Sounds Fun

Kids — Explore letter sounds and handwriting in a fun, interactive, and multisensory way. We'll have a variety of phonics stations for self-paced exploration. Targeted to ages 3-6, with an adult. Call 630-552-2025 to register.


Wednesday Night Book Group
Wednesday, October 17    7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Adults — Get together with other readers for an interesting discussion. "Underground Railroad" by Colson Whitehead will be discussed. The book for November, "Cuckoo's Calling" by Robert Galbraith, will be available at the Check-Out Desk. Newcomers are welcome any time.


Knit and Crochet Group
Thursday, October 18    10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Adults — This informal group works on their own projects, discusses types and colors of yarns, and helps each other with new or tricky patterns. They love to watch each other's projects develop. Participants bring their own supplies. They invite you to stop by and "yarn" awhile. No registration required.


Drop-In Job Search and Résumé Help
Thursday, October 18    2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Adults and Teens — An Illinois WorkNet representative will be available to answer your job search questions and provide résumé assistance. Location: Study Room B.


Me & My Grown-Up Storytime
Mondays: October 22, 29 & November 5, 12    6:30 p.m. - 7:10 p.m.
Kids — For 3 and 4 year-olds with their grown-up (no younger siblings allowed). This transitional storytime is perfect for the little one who's not ready for independent storytime. Grown-ups will stay in the room and actively participate in the program with their child. Features simple stories, rhymes, movement activities, songs, and art experiences. Movie Night
Monday, October 22    6:30 p.m. - 8:10 p.m.
Adults — Emotional and moving, this intimate look at America's favorite neighbor, Mister Fred Rogers, presents a portrait of a man whom we all think we know. Come see beyond the zip-up cardigans and the land of make-believe, and into the heart of a creative genius who inspired generations of children with compassion and limitless imagination. Rated PG-13. 2018. Refreshments served.


Independent Storytime for 3's, 4's, and 5's
